Just wondering anyone have any examples either real life (preferably) or from online of mature ladies ie late 40s or so who think they'll not get pregnant but then end up having an unexpected pregnancy?

The closest example I can think of, here in the UK, who would fit your description reasonably closely would be Emma Kenny. She gave birth to her third child earlier this year - having turned 50. 

After a series of miscarriages before-hand, it was a pregnancy that she kept a secret. Here's an article about it.

I must admit, I was pleasantly taken aback by this.
