Hey Lads,
I think I got scammed, about two weeks ago I paid a creator on Manyvids for a custom, since then nothing has happened. I texted her and she replied that she was in hospital..well Idk
What do you think about that, it sounds a bit suspicious doesn‘t it?

Just a few days after another user got bamboozled by another "creator". Next time, make sure that before you pay a custom video that you at least ask them if they can send a preview, just 10 seconds of the whole video, as proof that the video actually was made? While it still has the chance to backfiring on you, at least it's not as guaranteed as if you send the money immediately and if they insist on sending them money, at least a downpayment should be done first before the rest would be given so that you can mitigate your loses on those types of people.

You can contact service for a refund.

They don't issue refunds but they do issue credits ("MV cash" or whatever), or at least that's how it was the last time I ordered a custom a couple years ago. Whenever the stated timeframe for the custom runs out you can contact support for non-delivery. They will reach out to the model and give them a few days to deliver it. If nothing happens after that then your account gets a credit toward other purchases on the site.

As stated above, ManyVids has protections for users that buy custom videos and don't get what they paid for. Also, it's pretty unlikely that a creator will shoot the whole video before payment. Nearly all that I have dealt with won't provide anything at all, not even test photos, before payment. I wouldn't if I were them.

That’s what I meant. It’s called escrow credit and you can purchase content with it, basically a gift card.

I’m actually kind of surprised to see someone reporting that this is an issue with MV having a scammer problem as I thought they were usually pretty good about keeping scammers off of their platform. That being said no creator is going to do anything in advance—a few might do test shots once they have your money, but that doesn’t solve the real issue if this is now a problem with MV.

This is already a step above certain other platforms (looking at you OF,) but MV definitely has problems with how they handle custom content that they need to address. First off, most models won’t take a custom content order unless you PM them first. This would be fine, except that in order to do so, you need to either have a premium MV account, or to have purchased something from the creator you want to speak with within the last 30 days. Right now I’m dealing with a creator for content unrelated to pregnancy whose responded once to me in the span of over a month, despite me having money for a custom from her burning a hole in my wallet, and the fact that she’s supposedly a “reliable” creator with a track record. Oh, and I can see that she’s “seen” my messages, and I get that people get busy and can forget to reply, but I shouldn’t have to bang down your door to get a reply as to whether or not you’re still interested in what we were discussing for a custom. (Either just say you’re not interested or acknowledge that you need to reread my message, but don’t leave me wondering if you just forgot about me or aren’t interested.) The solution to the PM issue is easy: create a messaging system that’s specifically designed for custom content requests and require creators to use that instead of the regular PM system that you have to pay for, and punish buyers who try to use it for non-custom content related messages. Second, MV credit is great for small purchases, but if I’m spending hundreds of dollars on content from someone who doesn’t deliver, I don’t want MV credit, I want my actual money back so I can blow it on another luxury expense. The solution here would be a system where MV acts as an actual escrow in the sense that you still pay your creator up front, but they don’t see a dime until after the video is completed, delivered, and the buyer has two weeks to look at it and make sure that the file actually plays correctly. If the creator doesn’t deliver or backs out, or sends a corrupt file, the buyer gets their money back, and if the seller delivers and the buyer doesn’t say anything within two weeks, the creator has the funds released to their account. This would prevent the typical non-buyers from just filing chargebacks and ripping off creators, and would prevent scammers from ripping off buyers, and is also how most non-adult content creation deals work, although a small amount of money may be made available up front for those projects. Finally, MV should really get rid of tips on custom videos and just have creators build them into their overall budget. Honest buyers are going to be paying the same amount either way, they don’t really serve as an incentive for outstanding service since the good creators already provide it and the bad ones never will, (and the whole point of a tip is gratitude for outstanding service,) and at best they’re an inconvenience for buyers, and at worst they’re a way for bad sellers who don’t intend to deliver to rip off buyers. If you want to encourage good behavior from both parties, come up with something like eBay’s original feedback system before they neutered its ability to affect both buyers and sellers. Back when eBay wanted to be an online flea market, it kept potentially shady people honest, and adult sites are sort of in the same realm in that they attract a lot of honest people, but also a lot of dishonest ones as well.

That aint gonna work. A lot of these models want the down payment first. I know of one right now that wants half of the payment up front and the other half when she delivers the content. Very few models will agree to provide screencaps of a custom without any sort of payment up front.
